IDENTIFICATION OF MICROFUNGI

We offer services for identification of microfungi from different substrates and sources.  We have experts for identification of microfungi from the genera Fusarium, Aspergillus, Penicillium and Colletotrichum as well as other major groups of microfungi.

Many fungal isolates can be identified using morphological characteristics such as colony appearance, colony pigmentation  and  shapes of spores/conidia.  Molecular identification service is also available and will be used if necessary. Fungal isolates will be identified up to species level, if possible.

HERBARIUM

SEJARAH

FUNGSI

Sehingga kini, koleksi herbarium melebihi 11623 spesies meliputi 200 famili.

MAKMAL PERALATAN UTAMA

SERVICES OF  THE MPU

MPU is a centre which provide services for examination of biological samples and others. The following listed instruments at MPU:

Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS), with Headspace Analyzer

The GC-MS instrument allowed for identification and quantification of target compounds in mixtures by mass spectrometer (MS) for molecular mass measurement and gas chromatograph (GC) for separation of mixtures into its components.

Headspace analysis is a time-tested and robust technique for the analysis of volatile compounds in almost any matrix.

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)  with UV-VIS Detector & Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) with PDA FLR and ELSD Detector

HPLC and UPLC are both liquid chromatography techniques used in analytical chemistry to separate, identify, and quantify each component found in a mixtures. UPLC instruments are sub 2- micron particles and most HPLC methods are developed on particles between 2.5 - 5 microns in size.

CHN/S Analyzer

CHN/S Analyzer is use for determination of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and sulfur content in organic and other types of materials.

Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometer ( ICP-OES)

An analytical technique used for the detection of trace metals or element analysis in a wide range of samples.

Atomic Absorbance Spectrometry (AAS)

Capable of quantifying concentration of specific elements based on the specific flame emission of the element.

Micro digester

Digest the different sample matrices including water, food, soil, sludge, clinical waste and organic samples.

Kjeldahl Distillation Titration System

Using in an analysis of Nitrogen/protein in foods, feeds, soils, sediments, sludges and other materials. The Kjeldahl method consists of 3 stages; Digestion, distillation and titration.
