Research background

My research focuses on invertebrate diversity and abundance in intertidal ecosystems, including mangroves, sandy beaches, artificial and natural rocky shores, and mudflats. I utilize descriptive and experimental approaches in marine ecology. My previous works quantified changes in population patterns and behaviours from marine macrobenthos as a response to eutrophication and habitat modification. Additionally, I investigate the influence of habitat complexity and heterogeneity on the abundance and diversity of mangrove macrofauna. Through collaboration with fellow researchers and students, various species of crabs, gastropods, bivalves, polychaetes, and other marine organisms in Northern Peninsular Malaysia were recorded.

Research focus

Marine ecology, coastal invertebrates and  anthropogenic impacts on marine ecosystems
