Research background
Dr. Natasha Arina Mohd Izham is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia's School of Biological Sciences. Her research focuses on seagrass ecology, aquatic ecosystems, and environmental pollution, with a particular emphasis on the role of macroalgae and seagrass in blue carbon sequestration. She has published extensively on the contributions of blue carbon species to carbon and nitrogen dynamics in tropical seagrass meadows, advancing understanding of their ecological functions. Her work also addresses microplastic contamination in Southeast Asian coastal environments, highlighting her commitment to marine conservation and climate change mitigation.
