Research background

My research is centered on Molecular Ecology and Conservation Genetics, where I apply biotechnological tools to safeguard Southeast Asia’s rich biodiversity. I utilize DNA barcoding, microsatellites, and mitochondrial DNA analysis to investigate population structure, genetic connectivity, and the evolutionary history of both marine and terrestrial species. My work integrates molecular data with geometric morphometrics to resolve taxonomic complexities and employs forensic biotechnology to support biosecurity and wildlife management. Furthermore, I am dedicated to ethnobiological documentation, bridging the gap between traditional ecological knowledge and modern science to provide the evidence-based data necessary for sustainable policy-making and the preservation of Malaysia’s natural heritage.
