Hasber Salim, Associate Professor

 Research background

Hasber Salim has more than 20 years of experience in vertebrate pest management, entomology and sustainable agriculture. He began his career as a Senior Plant Protectionist at FGV R&D, dealing directly with rat and insect pest problems in oil palm plantations. His PhD in vertebrate pest management focused on the toxicity and sub-lethal effects of first- and second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides on barn owls in oil palm ecosystems. His research integrates barn owl-based biological control, insect pest ecology and safer rodenticide use into practical, sustainable pest management strategies for oil palm, rice fields and other agro-ecosystems throughout Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
