Nanobiotechnology

 

Research Profile

The utilization of nanoparticles for biotechnology application has become an interesting research approach. At finite size, nanoparticles exhibit remarkable material properties such as superparamagnetism, high plasmon field, surface functionality and enzyme-like activity. Due to their versatility, biomolecules such as enzymes, antibodies, aptamers and DNA fragments can be immobilized on the nanoparticles surface by direct conjugation to the surface or to surface-bound stabilizing ligands. Immobilization of biomolecules on nanoparticles provides a useful platform for biosensing purposes. Therefore, my main research interest involves the manipulation of nanoparticles surface to immobilize biomolecules and development of an innovative nanosensor system.
