Medical Entomology: Biology, Ecology and Control of Vector Mosquitoes

 



Research Profile

  • Biology and control of vector mosquitoes; Systematic and ecology of Aedes, Culex, Anopheles and Mansonia mosquitoes.
  • Screening novel, formulated insecticides (adulticides and larvicides), insect growth regulators (IGRs), attractants and repellents against Aedes, Culex and Mansonia mosquitoes.
  • Integrated control approaches for the control of mosquitoes.
  • Efficacy and performance of space spray (ULV/ thermal fogging) machines; Sublethal effects of space spray and household insecticide products in vector mosquitoes.
  • Biochemical studies on insecticide resistance in vector mosquitoes.
  • Product development and quality control of common household insecticide products; Laboratory and fi eld bioefficacy testings of new formulations of household insecticide products (mosquito coil, aerosol, mat and liquid vaporizer).
  • Global distribution, preparation, storage and improvement of WHO insecticide resistance test kits and WHO in vitro micro test plates for monitoring anti malarial drug resistance.
